Lula Bell James Vomhof    A Generous Contribution of Things to Remember

A young High School Graduate.   Looking forward to a bright future.

A mother, civilian employee at a huge Naval Base in San Diego, CA.   Later, joining the United States Navy Reserve and doing some Active Duty in far away places.   Ends up with 20 years in the U.S. Navy Reserve.

A beautiful adult lady.

Lula, Thank you for serving our country during a very trying time.     As I recall you were stationed in South Korea at the Demilitarized Zone between North and South Korea.    That took some intestinal fortitude.

After traveling around the United States as a Navy wife with two children we ended up in San Diego.  I soon became a single parent and working in civil service at the Naval Amphibious Base Coronado.  It was there I had the opportunity to join the Naval Reserves.
So at the age of 40 I joined the Naval Reserves, an at the same time I attended National University and received a Bachelor  Degree in Occupational Health & Safety and Masters in Curriculum Development.
I retired three years ago this August with 20 years service with the Naval Reserves.  Eight years active duty and 12 years reserve as a Yeoman (YN) administrative clerk.
My travels with the military, I would say the most interesting was visiting Seoul, South Korea.  In July of 1995 I took a bus tour to Panmunjom.  The Joint Security area is a neutral but divided area guarded by United Nations & Korean People's Army.  I am standing in the meeting room you can see the North Korean solders looking in the window.
I live Arizona and work for Belden Communications Division, (Phoenix) as a Security Officer.

Thank you for enriching and awaking our memories.
